Merry Christmas!

I am leaving to go out of town through the weekend so I will not be able to post until then. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!

velvety touch

this is about the only time of year when velvet is appropriate, so embrace it now! it's warm, it's cozy and feels so yummy. but make sure you put away your velvet items before the weather gets warm. velvet+warm weather=fashion faux pas. the jackets listed below are great layering pieces and can be worn with pants, skirts or dresses making them very versatile. and like other "special" fabrics (sequins, leather, suede, animal print), only wear one velvet item at a time.

anthropologie, green with envy jacket-$148

j.crew, velvet eden blazer-$89.99

7 for all mankind, five pocket velvet leggings in black wash-$149

max and cleo, one-shoulder dress-$148

browsing for blouses

i am totally needing to re-vamp my work wardrobe and so i thought browsing for some new blouses would be a good start. adding a few new pieces to my everyday work attire will hopefully get me inspired to put some new looks together. my sales job allows me the opportunity to have fun with what i wear on a daily basis. as long as i am covered up, not wearing jeans and look put together, anything goes which is really nice. here are a few of my favorites i am leaning towards.

victoria secret, charmeuse top-$68
so this might not be work appropriate. but this would look awesome with some skinny jeans for a night out on the town.

boy meets girl

the boyfriend look. katie holmes inspired it. you can recreate it.

this androgynous look is sexy, comfortable and easy to pull off with clothes you probably already own. or at least, clothes that your boyfriend owns. all of these pieces i have chosen are super affordable and can be worn dressed up or down. i remember in 7th grade rocking a pair of oxford heels. who knew almost 15 years later people would still be inspired by these shoes? so, throw on your boyfriends dress shirt, wrap a big belt around it, roll up your straight leg jeans and have fun!

timex, easy reader-$40

seychelles, london oxford-$128

converse, surf allstar lo-$29.99

gap, vintage-destructed boyfriend jeans-$79.50

trouve, button front boyfriend shirt-$58

aquq, 3/4 sleeved draped boyfriend cardigan-$88

silence and noise, open front blazer-$49

stud delight

adding studs to any outfit is a huge trend right now. it's an edgy statement and easy way to make a boring outfit a little more flashy. i love the gold studs the most, especially on black or brown leather. think about adding some stud accessories to an extra feminine dress/outfit to rough up a soft look.

noir jewelry, pyramid stud earrings-$25

aqua, studded wool gloves-$38

j.crew, skinny studded belt-$35

steven by steve madden, flyn studded pumps-$159
