grab a coat

christmas is right around the corner and many friends of mine are wanting new coats as gifts. i tried to find coats that were relatively inexpensive, yet stylish at the same time. because it is almost the end of the month, many of these coats will go on sale if they aren't already so be patient!

feeling the feathers

i am loving fashion lately that has an organic, natural twist. feathers are everywhere i look and i am loving them. it's an unexpected added something that can make a boring outfit become unique. whether you add an accessory or wear a skirt mimicking feathers, try this look for a fun, playful outfit.

go nude

this morning i came to the realization that i am in desperate need of some new shoes for work. my everyday go-to work shoe is usually a neutral cream, and boy are they looking rough. i wear a nude pump most frequently because they go with everything and they do not make me think outside the fashion box when i am grumpy in the early morning hours. here are a few options i found in my search. i am not sure if i am sold on any of these, but at least it's a start!

baby, it's cold outside

so, the irony of this posting is that it was 85 degrees today here in jacksonville. while chatting with my ny girlfriend on the phone today, i told her it was a "cool" 85 which was better than a "humid" 85. she quickly told me how ridiculous this sounded. despite the 85 degree temps, i wore a light merino wool sweater today for work. i refuse to continue wearing my summer wardrobe. so what if i have to spend a little more money on deodorant?

while doing a little on-line christmas shopping, i found these great sweaters which i am loving. if i can't buy these due to warm weather, you all should! most of these are on sale right now so grab them while they are still in stock.

weekly budget finds!

wintertime brings out the romantic side of me. the weather is changing, the holidays are here and mistletoe's are being hung everywhere. all i want to do is snuggle up with aj all day and night by the fire. well...that is if it was not 75 degrees still in jacksonville. here is to hoping for colder weather come january!

the budget finds post this week are all romance inspired, at least from my point of view. they are all light and airy pieces with a sweet, romantic feel.

make me shine

yippee, it is the holidays! this means cold weather, eggnog, christmas parties and sequins. somewhere in the fashion rule book there must be a section that requires all designers to integrate sequins into their holiday collections. no matter what you are looking for this season, someone will probably make it with sequins! i actually like some sequin pieces because you can make the look dressy or causal. but please, only one sequin look per outfit!

get it together

today is a little follow up from yesterdays posting. while j.crew is a great place for inspiration for new looks, there are plenty of other sources to get new ideas from as well. here are some more looks i am loving for the season. i find that the majority of people i know have fantastic clothes and large wardrobes, but struggle with how to piece looks together so they feel "put together." this is not easy to do everyday, especially when working with your own wardrobe. when you get inspired from a picture, cut it out of a magazine or save the internet page to your favorites. that way, when you are out of new outfit ideas, you will have some resources to look at. and, most importantly, be open-minded...anything goes these days!

william rast jacket, ash platform boots
love the mix of the brown leather jacket with black riding pants. for a preppy twist, the white button down shirt adds a more structured look.

anthropologie
layering a long sweater over a dress is an easy way to take a spring/summer dress through fall and winter. add a belt to create a waist, winter tights and fun shoes.

ann taylor loft
a super comfy look. extra long sweater, leggings and boots are items you probably already own.

american eagle
an easy casual look with a jean jacket, mixed with a hoodie, layered over a casual dress, fun winter hat, leggings and cowboy boots. more than likely, you already own all of these items as well.
